A placement test is required for the courses in English, French, Spanish and Italian. Students should take this online placement test (C-test) before enrolment. If participants would like to join a course in any of the other languages offered and have already acquired competencies in that language, they should contact the SLI and then talk to the respective teacher before the course starts. For further information on the C-test, please click here.
Course levels marked with Roman numerals (I-V) must be taken chronologically and may not be attended concurrently. Course levels marked with capital letters (A-C) may be attended in any order. Courses subdivided into I a, I b or I c or II a, II b refer to the same course level. In these cases, several identical course levels of one language are offered at the same time in order to meet the high demand.
Students can take ECTS credits in all courses offered at the SLI. For the allocation of credit points, they have to sit the final exam and complete supplementary tasks set by the teachers (presentation, written assignment, additional test or similar). Students who need credit points should inform their teacher early enough, so he or she can set the respective tasks on time.
Students can receive three credit points for the language courses at the SLI, except for the courses belonging to the @Work series. Here, students receive two credit points. Students should contact the examination office in advance to find out whether the selected course will be recognised in the respective programme.
