Online dictionary & corporate wording

SÜLiS provides and maintains an online dictionary and develops a corporate wording for the University of Wuppertal. The online dictionary (last update: 04 March 2026) is available as a pdf file for all university members to promote and ensure a uniform use of the English language.

Terms of use

The Language Learning Institute (SLI) of the University of Wuppertal administers the only dictionary and makes it available online as a pdf file.

The glossary contains terms that are specific to the university and/or cannot be found in a standard dictionary.

Context plays a crucial role when it comes to appropriate translations. The English-language terms listed here are therefore intended as a guide.

The categories are sorted alphabetically. Within the categories, the terms are also listed in alphabetical order. However, there are exceptions: the name of the schools are listed twice because the bachelor degree courses and master degree courses are assigned to the respective school.

At the University of Wuppertal British English is used.
